Friendly brown-egg layers with cinnamon-colored plumage
Cinnamon Queens are hybrid chickens valued for strong brown-egg production and a calm, approachable temperament. Their reddish-brown hens are a practical choice for backyard flocks, with shade and ventilation especially important in Central Florida.
Cinnamon Queens are commercial hybrid chickens rather than a standardized heritage breed. They are commonly sold as sex-linked birds, with reddish-brown female chicks and lighter-colored males. Parent lines vary by hatchery, and their offspring do not reliably reproduce the same traits or chick-color sex identification.
Hens produce large brown eggs and may begin laying around 18–24 weeks. Annual production varies with genetics, nutrition, daylight, age, and management; the strongest laying performance is usually during the first laying year. Their calm, friendly disposition makes them appealing to beginners and families, although individual birds vary.
For Central Florida flocks, provide reliable shade, ample fresh water, and a well-ventilated coop. Cinnamon Queens adapt well to confinement when given adequate room and enrichment, and they also enjoy foraging in a secure outdoor area. Balanced layer feed and predator-resistant housing remain essential.
