ASSORTED COLORS (Buff, Gold, white/Black, White/Blue) Crested ornamental chickens with distinctive looks and white eggs

Polish chickens are best known for their dramatic feather crests and wide variety of colors. These lightweight ornamental birds lay white eggs and benefit from calm flockmates, dry housing, and protection from predators.

Polish chickens are an ornamental breed recognized by their prominent feather crests. Bearded and non-bearded varieties occur in several colors and patterns, including white-crested black, buff laced, silver laced, and golden laced. Standard-sized birds are lightweight, with mature hens around 4.5 pounds and roosters around 6 pounds; bantam varieties are smaller.

Hens lay small to medium white eggs, with production commonly ranging from 100–180 eggs per year. They are not high-output layers, and laying onset and annual production vary with strain, season, nutrition, and management. Broodiness is low.

Polish can be gentle and approachable, but their crests may restrict vision and make them easily startled. They do best with nonaggressive flockmates and secure housing, since limited visibility can make predator detection and flock interactions more difficult.

For Central Florida, provide shade, ventilation, fresh water, and a covered area that keeps crests dry during rain. Check that birds can see well enough to find feed and water, and watch for crest pecking. Their extra care needs make them a better choice for keepers willing to give ornamental birds closer attention.
